We have been riffing movies live for many years now - long before we assembled The B-Raters, actually - but we didn't schedule them in advance or open them up to the general public, so we're still figuring out our process. It's fun and we're learning a lot, but it's also a lot of work and we don't get paid for it (yet).
Luckily, we had a jumpstart on season 3, so we're trying to make the most of it. Unfortunately, like all productions, we're also experiencing growing pains. One thing we're focused on in the upcoming season is jibing the films we riff with holidays and other important dates. April Fools Day was kind of lucky, in that we riffed it on its anniversary but we weren't certain as to the exact release date - we got lucky with that one, but we want to do more along those lines.
We are also trying to step-up our promo game a little, as well as bring y'all more flicks you seem to enjoy. The slashers we've done have been - far and away - the most popular, but we'd run out of movies to riff if we focused solely on those. We're moving them to the Halloween season - not just for The Annual Halloween Marathon, but the entire month of October. We are also going to be "re-releasing" some of the films we've already riffed along the way, so there will be plenty of slasher fun for everyone.
The "classic" sci-fi flicks also seem to fare well but, again, there are only so many to go around, so we have to space them out throughout the season. We have plenty of those headed your way, as well.
Finally, we had a lot of technical snags in season 2 and several good riffs were lost. We'll be revisiting some of those films in the coming seasons.
It all kicks off August 1st, 2015, so be sure to be there for The B-Raters season 3!
